THE JOURNEY01 — A NEW BEGINNING

01 / MY STORY

The long way
to finding home.

My name is Anthony Maduhu. I’m from Tanzania, East Africa, and I’m the fourth of eight children—five boys and three girls. My journey has taught me how much one person’s care can change a life.

01

MY ROOTS

A mother’s strength.

After my parents separated when I was very young, my mother raised all eight of us on her own. I grew up without my father’s care, watching her work hard to provide for our family.

We identified as Christians and attended church, but faith had not yet become a personal relationship with God. When I wrote my profile at 27, I was still hoping my family would come to know that relationship too.

02

AT SIXTEEN

Twenty-six kilometres.

Four months into secondary school, I left—even though my mother wanted me to continue my education. I felt responsible for helping her, so I ran away from home and walked nearly 26 kilometres to the nearest town to find work.

For two years, I worked as a storekeeper and sent my entire monthly salary home. My mother used it to finish our house. I was proud to help. Then I lost my job.

03

DAR ES SALAAM

Searching for a way.

With no income and unwilling to return home, I moved to Dar es Salaam, believing there would be better opportunities. Instead, I spent a year living on the streets.

During that time, Safina Street Network visited us through street outreach. Their team shared the word of God, and one staff member kept encouraging me to imagine a different life and surrender my life to Christ.

04

A NEW BEGINNING

Finding faith. Finding purpose.

Eventually, I made the decision to give my life to Jesus. That was the beginning of my journey with Christ—and a new direction for my life.

The hope I received is the hope I want to share. My experience of the streets is now part of my desire to walk alongside children who need care, encouragement, and a place to belong.

02 / LIFE ON BOARD

A world
beyond myself.

I joined Logos Hope in October 2024 and began my two-year commitment on 1 February 2025, serving in the Visitor Engagement department at the book fair.

Through missions, I’ve learned that serving God is about more than going to new places or sharing words. It is about loving people as Christ loves us—through compassion, practical care, and walking alongside those who need hope.

A NOTE ON WHAT MATTERS

“It’s not just about sharing words, but about living out God’s love through actions.

03 / THE VISION

A DREAM FOR THE FUTURE · DAR ES SALAAM

A place
to belong.

My dream is to create a safe house for street children in Dar es Salaam, with a vision of streets free of homeless children. I believe every child carries a unique purpose from God and deserves the chance to discover it.

A home away from the dangers of street life, where children are cared for and supported in their mental and emotional healing.

Faith that helps
hope take root.

Restoring hope through the Gospel, with spiritual guidance that helps children rediscover their purpose and potential in Christ.

The tools
to grow.

Education and encouragement to break the cycle of hardship and grow into strong, purpose-driven individuals.

04 / THE MINISTRY

A calling.
A ministry in action.

What began as a calling in 2017 became street outreach in Dar es Salaam in 2020. Through visits, games, prayer, food sharing, and listening, this ministry walks alongside children who need safety and hope.

Discover the story behind the work, the care at its heart, and how you can be part of it.
